Qualifications:
A candidate must have been a member of the Suburban Soccer Officials
Association for at least three years.A candidate must have been involved
with refereeing for the last three years. Candidates should excel in
the following three areas.
Responsibility:
A candidate must be a member in good standing. He/she must: - Pay
all Dues - Attend the required number of meetings each year. - Send
in eligibility forms and contracts - Notify the designated Chapter Chairperson
and the State PIAA authorities of disqualifications / problems.
Performance:
A candidate must be an active referee who demonstrates: - Fitness
on the field. - Punctuality, preparation and professionalism - Outstanding
knowledge of the rules and their application. - An understanding of
the spirit of the game. - Good mechanics
Dedication:
A candidate must perform some service to the chapter and/or sport
off the field. Acceptable examples of service include, but are not limited
to the following: - Being an officer for the Chapter - Volunteering
for Chapter committees or duties - Coaching a soccer team - Officiating
intramural or other unpaid games - Assessing other referees - Monitoring
newer referees
PROCESS
Nominations for the award will be accepted from any member of the
Chapter until approximately the middle of the Fall soccer season (Date
to be set each year). Nominations should be made in writing to the award
committee. The award committee will consist of six people as follows:
- One new member (up to three years) - One five year member - One ten
year member - One fifteen year member - One twenty year member - One
Chapter Officer, who will also serve as the Committee Chair The committee
should meet as necessary to choose a winner from the field of nominees.
The winner will be named and presented with the award at the Annual
Banquet.
